The F-22P Sword class is an improved version of the Chinese Type 053H3 frigate ordered by the Pakistan Navy (PN). The $750 million deal, finalized last year, also includes 6 Z-9EC helicopters.F-22P are armed with eight C-803 surface-to-surface and eight FM-90 (improved HQ-7) surface-to-air missiles. F-22P uses many of the Type 054 frigate's Radar Cross Sectional (RCS) reduction concepts.
This ships have a poor air defence systems the HQ-7, it is only a copy of the Thomson-CSF Crotale missile from 1978-1979, and now again upgraded. HQ-7 was PLAN's standard ship-based air-defense SAM for over a decade, until the introduction of the more capable, longer-range HQ-9.
ReplyDeletePakistan should buy better the HQ-9 !
Pakistan needs destroyer sized platforms to accommodate HQ-9. Sometimes I wonder if India has made a mistake investing in expensive Brahmos AShM. Pakistan doesn't have any surface platforms worth being "Brahmosed".
ReplyDeleteIs that a guard post on the helipad? Pakistan seems really freaked out with the terror attacks.

ReplyDeleteIndia’s Brahmos will face competition from the PN’s longrange C-803 SSM and C-603SSM.
To Shahen1999
ReplyDeleteYes current SAM of F-22P do lack proper air defense capability necessary.F-22P was purchased as replacements for the older Type-21 Frigates and other warships and these are very low cost Frigates at just 750 millions with Z-9 helicopters and interest of loan. Deal was signed as Pakistan was negotiating this deal since 1990s. Pakistan will get newer and more capable frigates with advance AAW capability.
AD, I asked about the blue box on the helipad not the guns on the hangar. The competition is not between Brahmos and c-308/603 but between Brahmos vs HQ-7 and c-308/603 vs Barak1/8
ReplyDeleteDidn't meant to offend anyone. Humor is our only salvation in these difficult times. Peace Out.

ReplyDeleteWell I don’t know why you get the impression that someone was offended, friend as long as language is civilized you are more than welcome.
Now about your questing, I am sorry I did not got you question first time, I don’t know what it is friend but one thing is for sure that it is temporary.
I did clearly said that F-22P do lack proper air defense capability necessary. Now I think that only competition will be between CIWS Vs BrahMos and C-803 SSM/C-603 SSM vs Barak-8. Both Barak-1 and FM-90 are simply not capable of handling any thing advance.
The FM-90 has a range of about 25km. So it's between a CIWS system and a medium range missile system like the Shitl system..
ReplyDeleteI personally think that supersonic cruise missiles are not that much better than subsonic ones, they are all probably easily picked off by modern SAM systems.
i think pakistan should have gone to buy tpe 54a instesd of f-22p because it would give pakistan a
ReplyDeletecurrent generation of technology i.e stealth and its future could be much better than f-22p
