to asian defnece

the help of the Soviets in the past and now they are the Americans who realize that in order to keep balance of power in favor of the democratic world, they must back up India with all of their technological might.

ok what technological might,

and what americans can offer and others can't,and what americans have offered till now????????

their tech might in avaition is stealthy aircraft only but india is going with PaK FA

are americans going to transfer their nuke subs i don't think so

all frigates, destroyers, diesel subs come from russia, europe

all army related stuff comes from europe, russia

both rafale, typhoon are better than f18,16 americans offering for indian mrca

india can make its own setellites

ok india doesn't need amricans when it comes to hardware buy

whatever americans make, others too make similar things as well

and BMD is no panacea and there is no fool froof BMD which americans can offer

sorry, folks america still makes

high class defense equipment, ask

any Israeli, they know how to use

it also pakistanis know how to use

it, just give is what we need

america still makes

high class defense equipment,

so do others

The Americans and Indians will be drawn closer in the coming decades.

Only novices make one to one comparisons of tech like AESA, fifth generation fighters etc based on simplistic figures like range, speed etc.
There are 5 generations within AESA. And there are whole lot of technologies not so visible superficially. F35 employs over 5 million lines of sensor fusion software that has cost over half the F35 development cost and effort. More difficult than developing an AESA radar is to generate the data and develop the algorithms to exploit the capabilities of AESA. Merely changing the planer array with an AESA antenna makes no significant difference to the radar. The AESA has to be flight tested for years to generate data on radar reflections from different types of targets under different environmental conditions. It takes at least a decade for such a complex technology to mature. US has unparalleled experience of over 20 years of flying AESA on B2 and F22. Also their lead in C3I capability is unquestionable.
Making statistical comparison of assets and technologies gives only a false sense of capability.
Considering the amount US spends on cutting edge research the Russians and the Chinese are decades behind.

Though much of US export are watered down in capability as they keep the best to themselves and the Indo-US relations are only beginning to come over mistrust, India is definitely going to benefit in the coming years and decades.

There is nothing wrong in seeking cooperation in technology development. All development in the world takes place with the exchange of ideas. Didn't the west borrowed our mathematical system, and didn't we apply Newtonian laws to our research. In complete isolation China or anyone else will take centuries to reinvent and rediscover everything and indeed no one works in isolation. India will benefit from greater cooperation with the US, more so with the involvement of our private sector. This is how our capability in software was developed. The experience and knowledge gained from small outsourced jobs led to development of expertise and transformation of India from an outsourcing hub to R&D center for major software companies.

It is good to have French participation in Pakistan's civilian nuclear program. At least the world will be assured of its adherence to IAEA safeguards. With Chinese reactors one can never know what is going on.

so what, european aesa isn't bad either and when it comes to dtection range rbe2/zhuk ae aesa will have similar detection range and amsar will exceed the detection range of apg79 offered to india

and even pesa can provide better detection range irbis e

and u are probably daydreaming about russians being decades behind
(only fools think like this)
tell me where russians behind ameuricans in tank design,in all kind of missiles, submarine design, all type of aircraft design,destroyers/frigate design,or radars design

the only advantage US has is maturity of systems and that will not last long

so what US flying aesa for last 30 years but they could not mount their aesa on fighters by 2002 due to cooling porblems, and russians did that in late 2006 so how much is the difference

To Anon@10:45 PM: Its obvious you don't even have a technical college degree to understand significance of the issues discussed here. Coming to plain common sense, what makes you think that the Americans with the largest R&D infrastructure and spending in the world will sit back and let others do the catching up.

what makes you think that the Americans with the largest R&D infrastructure and spending in the world will sit back and let others do the catching up
----------------------------------
if someone spent in billions on r&d doen't mean that he will be on the top of tech development just buy spending in billions

and i don't need tech degree just to know this

they have lead only in aesa/stealth technology but it won't last longer

all other systems for nay, army, airforce other country can make as well which are comparable to US systems

Dear Anon@6:56 AM: Kindly enlighten yourself with R&D efforts going on in the US. They have started work on 6th gen of AESA. Also they are staring into a future of UCAVs and high power lasers. There is more to just jets, tanks and subs in a military. There are thousands of systems and technologies that make a balanced military. Just check the number of patents filed by US against rest of the world each year.
You seem to be comparing US systems by what they already have and others are trying to replicate. What you don't see is the future US is heading towards because its not even in your imagination.
Here you will get a glimpse of the future of the American military-
http://www.darpa.mil/off_programs.html

You are right about one thing though. Money alone does not bring technology. But US also has the largest talent pool including the best of Indian and Chinese scientist working for them. They have build the technological edge the US has with decades of work. This is why India and China despite their new found wealth cannot bridge the knowledge gap with US any time soon.

For about 1 century Americans hold their top position in world economy. Now in recession americans gradually loosing their stronghold in economic power. Now some congress men tell about huge burden in R&D project.China & INDIA both are ultimate alternative opotion, but both countries gear only Asian cold ware. Asian nato is very needed to wipe out Americans. But alas! there is no unity among asian countries. Now fall of US is a matter of time. Our quarrelsome nature only helps US to regaine their stand in world .

to anon at June 5, 2009 7:51 PM

there is no country in world which is ahead in all areas of military development

someone is ahead in one area and someone is in other area

it doens't matter how much someone spending on R&D

it is ture that americans are ahead in aesa tech but again europeans and russians are too far let alone decades

and yes both rbe2 and amsar are noe the less inferior to american aesa radar

and generation of aesa tech doesn't matter all matters is range whether someone has first gen tech or 5 gen tech

the only difference between aesa tech is aesa modules being of more reliability and smaller size

american 6 gen aesa tech not available before 2015
==============================
so what americans file more patents than rest of world alone, filing patents are differnet thing and making them operational is differnet thing

as i have already said that americans had aesa tech in 80s so what that aesa tech could be used in fighters untill 2002 and russians fielded there first aesa in late 2006 so how much is time difference

both russians and europenas match with americans whether its nuke subs, diesel subs, frigates, destroyers, all knid of missiles ,artilliary systems, tanks, sea and land based radars, setellites, launching rockets, space tech, electronic warfare etc etc

and UCAVs not coming before 2025-30
