Russia to deliver 120 T-90 main battle tanks to Algeria

Algeria has signed a contract with Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport for 120 additional T-90 main battle tanks. In 2006 Algeria purchased 180 of the type. Algeria signed the contract for the T-90s in September last year, according to the Russian daily economic newspaper Vedomosti, which quoted sources close to Rosoboronexport and Russian Technologies. The 120 tanks are valued at around US$470 million.

Russia To Counter US Missile Defence System

Russia will continue with the overhaul of its missile defence unless the US drops its plans for a European missile shield or proposes a scheme for a joint effort, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said. Russia delivered Tuesday new S-400 Triumf air defence systems to its Western Military District and pledged to put them on alert duty in a month.

India to Develop Advanced Seekers for Tactical Missiles

Imagine a war scenario in which miniaturised missiles equipped with Precision-Guided Munitions (PGMs) are unleashed from a mother missile to take out select enemy targets like an ammunition depot while avoiding collateral damage. 

A mother missile acts as a “force multiplier” and to achieve the desired result, each miniaturised missile will have a seeker to ensure its independent motion, irrespective of the mother missile's motion.

Last summer's social protests delayed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) multiyear program by a year, and sparked a long-winded debate about this year's defense budget.The Israel Defense Forces has insisted in recent weeks that it is facing unprecedented budgetary constraints, and has even threatened to freeze funding for missile defense systems. But unlike previous years, when such pressure could translate into more funding, the IDF is now unable to convince the government or the public that it has a case.

Russia, Vietnam to Jointly Manufacture Anti-Ship Missiles

Russia and Vietnam are planning to start in 2012 joint production of a modified anti-ship missile, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Mikhail Dmitriyev said on Wednesday. “We are planning to build facilities in Vietnam for the production of a version of the Russian Uran [SS-N-25 Switchblade] missile in a project that is similar to joint Russian-Indian production of the BrahMos missile,” Dmitriyev said.

India To Test 5000 km Range Agni Ballistic Missile

India will next month test a new long-range nuclear-capable missile which can strike targets more than 5,000 kilometres away, a defence research spokesman said on Wednesday. The announcement came three months after India successfully tested its Agni-IV missile, which was previously the longest range missile possessed by the armed forces capable of travelling 3,500 kilometres.

Bangladesh Navy finishes successful missile launching

Bangladesh Navy concluded its Annual Sea Exercise titled "Exercise Sea Thunder 2012" through successful launching of a Missile in the Bay of Bengal today, said a handout, reports BSS. Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam witnessed the Missile Firing and other exercises from the frigate "BNS Bangabandhu" as the chief guest. BNS Durdharsha launched the missile successfully in the sea.

US to cuts aid for Israel's Arrow and Iron Dome anti-missile programs f

The Obama administration's budget proposal for the 2013 fiscal year, which begins in October 2012, includes reductions in US aid for Israel's Arrow and Iron Dome anti-missile programs for the second consecutive year. The budget proposal increases regular military aid to $3.15 billion from $3 billion this year, in line with the 2007 aid formula reached between the two countries.

Israel successfully tests rrow missile defense system

Israel says it has successfully tested an upgraded radar for the Arrow missile defense system, developed with the United States and designed to intercept projectiles that might be fired at the Jewish state from Iran.

Defense official Yair Ramati says the test was conducted on Friday in conjunction with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

India To Test Its Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) On February 10

India's missile scientists are gearing to conduct an interceptor missile test on February 10 as part of the plans to deploy a two-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system.This will be the seventh interceptor mission. The exercise is meant to test the capability of the system to kill incoming ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000-3,000 km. Of the six exercises held to date — the first was in November 2006 — five have been successful.

New Iranian missile 'could strike US'

IRAN is developing a missile capable of hitting the east coast of the US, according to an Israeli government minister, intensifying Western anxiety over the Tehran regime's nuclear ambitions. The fresh alert was further heightened by reports that US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta believes a pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities by Israel is likely, and could come as soon as April.

Russian defense minister lashes out at missile designer

Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov has accused leading missile designer Yury Solomonov of having a grudge against the ministry and lobbying for the defense industry.Solomonov, who designed the RS-24 and Bulava ballistic missiles, said in an interview with Russia's Kommersant daily on Wednesday that the 2011 state defense order was in jeopardy partly because the Defense Ministry had delayed the signing of new defense contracts, especially on procurement of strategic nuclear armaments."I suspect that he holds a grudge because of his dismissal from the post of the general director of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology [MITT]," Serdyukov told reporters.

Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov has said that RSM-56 Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is ready for serial production. Russia had successfully test fired Bulava SLBM from the new generation 'Yuri Dolgoruky' strategic missile submarine on June 28.

Indian Army Short Lists PARS 3 LR Guided Missile System

MBDA’s PARS 3 LR guided missile system has been short listed for the Indian Army helicopter future air-to-ground requirement. MBDA Deutschland has delivered proposals for its PARS 3 LR multi-target, long range weapon system for HAL’s Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH DHRUV) and for two attack helicopters, the KAMOV KA-52 and the MIL MI-28. 

Three missiles were equipped with live warheads and all three struck their intended targets at the optimal hit points. Two firings were carried out within one minute of each other, the first against a static target at a range of 7,000 m and the second against a moving target at a range of 700 m. The third firing was carried out with the helicopter in fast forward flight against a static target at a range of 7,000 m.

India Should Develop Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles:IAF


Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik has called for developmental of the intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) with ranges of 10,000 km to ensure that India can deliver its nuclear weapons to any target around the world.
