Pakistan navy receives first tanker-cum-utility ship STUS-1

Prime Minister was the chief guest at the launching ceremony of first tanker-cum-utility ship at the Karachi Shipyard STUS-1.

Primary role of STUS is to carry out replenishment of ships at anchor and in harbor, torpedo recovery, act as attendant vessel during diving operations, perform towed array transportation and mine laying. The vessel is 47.2 m long with deep displacement of around 1600 tonnes. Pakistan Navy signed a contract to obtain two Small Tanker Cum Utility Ships (STUS) from Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) at a total cost of US$ 20 Million on May 04, 2007.
