DPM Teo Visits Army Open House 2009

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean officiated at the opening ceremony of the Army Open House 2009 (AOH 09) on 05 Sep 2009. Mr Teo toured the Open House with the chairman and members of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Affairs.

Mr Teo also launched the Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), the latest addition to the 3rd Generation Army's fighting capabilities. The Terrex ICV provides infantry forces with enhanced protection, mobility and firepower, and networks soldiers and other air and land weapon platforms. This networking capability facilitates the fast and effective delivery of precise information, manoeuvres and fires in the battlefield.

Held at Pasir Laba Camp, AOH 09 showcases the capabilities of the 3rd Generation Army and provides visitors with an engaging and interactive experience. Divided into seven 'worlds' (Mission World, Combat World, Future World, Fun World, Our World, Action World and Battle World), this year's AOH gives visitors the opportunity to view the latest military equipment, participate in thrilling and interactive activities and view a demonstration of the Army's fire power. They will also be treated to performances by the Red Lions as well as exciting demonstrations on urban operations and the protection of key installations.

Members of the Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence joined by representatives from the Singapore National Employers Federation, Singapore Business Federation, and the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises were hosted by Minister of State for Defence Associate Professor Koo Tsai Kee in a visit to AOH 09 on 4 September 2009. The AOH 09 is open to the public from 3 to 7 September 2009.
