Turkey denies buzzing of Greek civilian plane

Turkey says a Greek claim that Turkish warplanes flew too close to a Greek civilian aircraft is not true. The Foreign Ministry says the accusation "does not reflect the truth." It said in a statement late Wednesday that radar records and logs demonstrate beyond any doubt that the distance at all times between the Turkish F-16s and the passenger plane was no less than five kilometers (three miles).

Greek state TV has said the incident involved an Olympic Airlines plane flying between the east Aegean Sea islands of Rhodes and Lesvos on Monday.Turkey says its jets were intercepted and harassed by Greek military aircraft. Greek and Turkish jets often carry out mock dogfights in disputed airspace over the Aegean.
