U.S. helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft, in competition with an Italian-British rival for a $4 billion Turkish contract for utility helicopters, announced Oct. 5 that it plans to offer Ankara a major benefits plan if the company wins the contest.The Turkish utility helicopter program calls for the joint production of 109 platforms, 94 of which will go to the Turkish military.Sikorsky is offering the T-70, a Turkish version of the S-70 Black Hawk International. In competition, AgustaWestland is offering its TUHP 149, a new generation, multirole helicopter designed for the Turkish requirement.
