PN launches small tanker-cum-utility ship Sunday, March 01, 2009By By our correspondent Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Noman Bashir has said that the launch of the second indigenously constructed small tanker-cum-utility ship in a short span of 45 days is reflective of the combined efforts of the Pakistan Navy (PN) and the Karachi Shipyard to revitalize this strategic industry and the country’s defence capabilities at sea.The CNS was speaking on Saturday as the chief guest at the launching ceremony of the PN’s small tanker-cum-utility ship at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
He apprised the audience that the F-22 P frigates project was also underway and work on the fourth ship of the project would commence shortly at the Karachi Shipyard. He said through these projects Karachi Shipyard would prove to be an attractive entity for the regional navies.ANNUAL NAVY PARADE: The PN Annual Efficiency Competition Parade and Awards Ceremony for the year 2008 was conducted on Saturday at the PN Dockyard. Admiral Bashir was the chief guest on the occasion.Admiral Bashir expressed satisfaction over the performance of the PN Fleet and lauded its efforts for successfully accomplishing the operational tasks and objectives during 2008.
