Japanese destroyers collide in Pacific

TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Two Japanese destroyers belonging to the Maritime Self Defense Force (MSDF) collided in the Pacific Ocean during an anti-piracy exercise on Friday morning, local media reported, citing the MSDF.

Nobody was hurt in the collision and the ships sustained little damage. The accident occurred at 8:45 a.m. Japan time, and led to the postponement of the anti-piracy exercise. The ships, the Onami and the Sawagiri, are to return to their home bases, where investigations will look to find the cause of the collision. The accident occurred 130 km south of Cape Ashizuri in Kochi Prefecture.
