Sri Lanka Air Force Mi-24 gunship crashes

Nov 27, Colombo: A Sri Lankan Air Force MI-24 helicopter gunship in a training mission crashed this afternoon due to a technical failure. SLAF Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said the crash was reported around 1.30 p.m. at a site 5 kilo meters north of Buttala in the South.


The two pilots and the two gunners on the training exercise, Squadron Leader Asela Dodammaluwa, Flight Lieutenant Rehan Fernando, Corporal Jayantha Sirisena, and Corporal Rathnayake died in the crash, the Air Force spokesman said.

I am a ardent Fan of the Srilankan Air force.they have bought 2nd hand Mi24 HIND either from Ukraine or from second hand market.This does not change the capability of the Platform.I would request the SriLankans to strengthen their system support technical facility this will increase the service life of this in valuable platform
