Sky’s the limit

Beijing’s dismissal of the DRDO’s claims that its missile technology is superior to that of China might provoke knee-jerk patriotism in Delhi. But no one in the world disputes that China is way ahead of India in missilery and military uses of space. By transferring missiles and their production technology, China has also put Pakistan ahead of India. Instead of acknowledging the reality and redoubling the effort to catch up, the DRDO is making extravagant claims. Take, for example, its head V.K. Saraswat’s claim that the Agni-III, with its 3000 km range, is ready for “induction” by the services. A weapons system inducted after just four tests including one failure? This is the kind of sanctimonious self-congratulation that the DRDO has doled out for decades. Because they wrap themselves in the flag, we are not supposed to ask questions, only clap. Saraswat has claimed that “there is no need to produce and store missiles in today’s world”. Really? China has more than 1000 missiles pointed at Taiwan; and is producing and deploying missiles in scores every year............................................Indian Express

India tested the Ballistic missile defense before China. India's BMD program is way ahead. China has last month tested its first ever anti ballistic missile. India tested it three years ago. In fact India has tested two versions already, the PAD with intercept altitude of 80+ Km and the AAD with intercept altitude of 15 Kms, both of which can handle 1500Km ranged IRBMs and India's DRDO is working on the AD1 and AD2 which can handle longer ranged missiles with higher re-entry velocities.

India after Russia, is the second nation to have tested a quasi-ballistic missile, a highly maneuverable hybrid hypersonic missile - The Shaurya. The other missile is the Russian Iskander.

With the Agni-3 system and its follow ons the Agni-5 and other varients including the sub launched version under development, India is equal footing as far as the missile reach is concerned. China has had a range of missiles since the '70s but they were highly inaccurate liquid fueled systems. This last decade has seen the chines shift gradually to solid fueled systems with much improved accuracy. This is the same time as India is fielding comparable solid fueled missiles, which are much more technologically advanced, though comparable in range and dimensions.

In terms of guidance, Indian missiles all feature gliding warheads which are terminally maneuverable. The guidance is a mixture of Laser Ring Gyros, GPS/GLONASS/IRNSS and star sensors on the Agni-5 onwards, to give very very low CEPs. In comparison very little is know about the guidance of chinese missiles. It is doubtful that the chinese are technologically capable to have put all these systems all together in a single missile system.

So when the lead Indian missile scientists Dr Saraswat and Dr Avinash Chander, say that India is way ahead, it is with solid grounds that they say this.

Naeen Akhter ?

Are you forgetting that your country Pakistan is begging in front of the entire world for small, technology backwarded weapons, which even a farmer in India can produce out of his hut?

Pakis are already defeated, since their economy is bankrupt, and their growth rate is at 0%. ]

The Pakis are loosing to a bunch of Mullah Muslim Taliban and Baloch. You guys are already defeated, and India just has to fund a few more Pushtun and Baloch to finish off your measly beggar nation.

As for China, China won't ever go to war with India, since it with go Nuclear and the Chinese won't allow it since India and China are each others fastest growing trading partners with over 65$ Billion in bilateral trade, which is set to hit a record 400$ Billion by 2025 according to CHinese economist.

Pakistan is a beggar and Prostitute of China, since Chinas bilateral trade with pakistan is measly compared to India.

This proves Indians , and CHinese are getting closer and closer day by day.

want proof? Look at the economic trade, and global cooperation at Copehagen, DOHA and ASEAN.

Pakis wake up from your dream, you are currently whores

Same old verbal diahorrea from divine whose pea brain cannot produce anything but crap.

Actually it's two Aholes including Tushar!

Skyhawk? YOU ARE LIVING IN THE WORLD OF ILLUTION.DONT USE YOUR MADRASA TEACHING IN ASAIN DEFENCE

Learn to spell Naidu...You illiterate looser

The paikistani internet warriors don't like this.

As expected, they can't counter this with any reasonable argument, so they resort to foul-mouthed antics.

Interesting to see this behavior pattern, they blindly oppose any news that shows India in a positive light.

SKYHAWK I NEVER SEEN A FOOL LIKE YOU............................. IN ASAIN DEFENCE. PAKI IS THE
HUB OF TERRORIST.HALF THE COUNTRY POPULATION IS TERRORIST & OTHER HALF Prostitute,I DONT NEED TO LEARN ANYTHING FROM YOU.

THOSE ARE SOME AWESOMECOMBINATION OF WORDS SKYHAWK!!!!!

Instead of being all aflutter over the raging controversy on whether India has a credible thermonuclear or hydrogen bomb, the armed forces are more worried about the delivery systems — the yet-to-be-fully proven Agni missiles and the still-to-be-developed SLBMs (submarine-launched ballistic missiles).

‘‘Nuclear weapons are not war-fighting weapons. But without reliable and secure ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) and SLBMs, it’s difficult to even brandish a credible deterrent,’’ a top military officer said on Tuesday.

‘‘Even a small stockpile of nuclear warheads, whether they are 25 kiloton fission bombs or the much-larger thermonuclear ones, is enough to deter an adversary only if you have tried and tested delivery systems and command and control structures for an effective second-strike,’’ he added.

This comes in the backdrop of two successive failures of the Agni-II missile, with a strike range over 2,000-km, on May 19 and November 23. There have also been reports in recent days that Pakistan now has a nuclear arsenal of 170-190 warheads compared to India’s 60-80.

India has no ICBM or SLBM at present. While China has always been far ahead in the strategic missile arena, even Pakistan has now nudged ahead of India in this as well, as reported by TOI earlier.

Be that as it may, DRDO seems quite confident of India’s nuclear and missile arsenal. After former Atomic Energy Commission chairman Anil Kakodkar, it was DRDO chief V K Saraswat’s turn on Tuesday to reject doubts raised by nuclear scientists like K Santhanam and P K Iyengar about the credibility of India’s nuclear deterrence.

Santhanam, associated with the Pokhran-II tests, has maintained the 45-kiloton thermonuclear device tested in 1998 was actually ‘‘a fizzle’’ and not the success it has been proclaimed to be. Saraswat, however, said, ‘‘In terms of deterrence, India has the capability which it needs to have. Any deterrence is the function of what is the threat against which you are creating it and in that particular aspect, we are totally self-sufficient,’’ said Saraswat.
